As the dentist’s right arm, the dental assistant is definitely a key member of the team. She must have knowledge of numerous techniques, top-notch organizational skills, an affinity for communication and an understanding of psychology. At IDI, we believe that it is to the dental assistant’s advantage to take continuing education courses that will enable her to flourish in her career.
Once your organization has an overall vision of oral health and offers elitist care, it cannot do without the new skills of the dental assistant (or treatment coordinator), which will undeniably foster the acceptance of major cases.
A frequent problem today is the lack of training and time to properly monitor case presentations. Treatment coordinators must take the time to develop interrelations with patients and to answer all their questions about procedures and their financing. The dental assistant/treatment coordinator must thus make sure that customers leave the practice well informed about the proper care for their oral health. The dental assistant/treatment coordinator must also know what alternatives are available to the ideal treatment and be able to explain them. All in all, they are the experts in providing effective communication and empathy, and are key to the success of a team.
Welcome to IDI.
